Passing Away

The wobble of a spinning top,
Fizz-bubbles in your soda pop,

A nose that tingles before a sneeze,
A hint of lilac on the breeze,

A suntan two weeks after tanning,
Archie, Eli, and Peyton Manning,

Castles built on dreams or sand,
A bidder in bridge with a lousy hand,

A medieval knight on a sacred quest,
The California Zephyr streaking West,

Little Miss Muffet and Little Boy Blue,
The yeti, Big Foot, and Sasquatch too,

Tastes in dress, decor, and dance,
All things enduring time and chance,

The transient and the temporal,
The fleeting and ephemeral,

The moon, the stars, the galaxy,
And mommy and daddy and baby and me,

And every dog that has his day,
All these will pass... and pass away,

But you, my love, are LOVE to me,
And LOVE outlives eternity.
